Broadway & Country Club GreenLot!

The Broadway and Country Club GreenLot is a fascinating location rich in history and personality. As of October 2011 over 300 individuals from across Tucson have helped to design, construct and nurture the Broadway and Country Club GreenLot. ITE began working with the owners of this property in 2006. The owners expressed a real passion for this pocket of nature on one of the busiest intersections in Tucson. Each GreenLot takes on its own personality based upon location and the goals and objectives of the partners. The intension of the Broadway and Country Club GreenLot is to enhance a native green space near the city center that serves as a location for ITE activities and a living neighborhood classrooms and community gathering space where neighbors, young and old, can interact with one another through nature, culture, and art.

The design of this GreenLots is not only inspired by teens but actively includes teens in planning and development. These projects involve teen participants as community leaders and unites them with community members of all ages—very young children, college students, adult professionals and volunteers, and other interested community members.

All ITE youth EcoPrograms, GreenLots, and KidsCorridor offer opportunities for youth, and their families, to enhance their physical fitness, learn about nutrition, contribute to community improvements, and connect with the natural world.
